OBSERVATIONS / DATES / PROVENANCE

Water quality

Published measurements retain their sampling period, units and source.

These are dated observations. A published monthly sample does not describe current conditions throughout the river.

Water treatment plant capacity

Published infrastructure capacity; no potability or live output is inferred.

PUBLIC DRAIN AND SEWER RECORDS

From city to river

Open records support investigation; buried sewer connectivity needs municipal validation.

Treatment records refer to sewage treatment (STPs) unless explicitly labelled otherwise. A nearby plant does not prove that an outfall is connected to it.
EXPLAINABLE INVESTIGATION

Understand the likely causes

Review hypotheses, the evidence behind them and the checks still needed.

HYPOTHESES FOR VERIFICATION
Water-quality indicators can support an investigation. They do not identify a responsible person or establish a confirmed source.
HOW TO INTERPRET THE SIGNALS

Evidence first. Field verification next.

High organic load and low dissolved oxygen can be consistent with sewage or other organic inputs. Rainfall adds runoff context. Plant effluent and drain results help identify where to sample next. Multiple causes may coexist; absent measurements remain an explicit gap.

Water test measurement (optional, user supplied)

Provide all three fields together. Submitted measurements remain separate from official laboratory records.

Your display name, report and precise observation location will be public. Submit the location of the issue, not your home. Reports start as unverified.

RESPONSIBLE INTERPRETATION

A basin view with visible gaps

The interface covers Ganga and Yamuna. Source availability and sampling density vary by reach. Public observations, contextual data and community reports are distinct evidence types. No hidden interpolation turns a missing record into a measurement.

Rainfall is environmental context; satellite scene metadata indicates imagery availability. Neither directly measures river pollutant chemistry. Public sewer maps may omit buried or unrecorded connections.

Track assigned field work and the evidence needed to verify an outcome.

Task completion records an action. Water-quality improvement requires comparable follow-up measurements.
